What inspired you to join Nexus2050 for its first edition?
It is with great interest that I will be attending Nexus 2050. This high-level international gathering presents a significant opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue on the major transitions we experience and what this means for the future of education, our children and youth. It is an opportunity to meet the leaders in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity or sustainability. As we navigate the complexities of the 21st century, Luxembourg remains committed to equipping our students with the necessary skills, and knowledge to excel. I am confident that Nexus 2050 will provide a valuable platform to explore innovative approaches to education and to foster an increasingly effective and dynamic learning environment for all.
Which topics at Nexus2050 are of particular interest to you? And why?
With the rapid emergence and development of new technologies, I'm particularly interested in those that can help improve our education system in Luxembourg and in particular those that support students in their learning and development, as well as to prepare them for the future.
The use of artificial intelligence in education can support personalized learning, adaptive learning, and intelligent tutoring systems. It is promising in modernizing education delivery, making it more effective and efficient. Of course, the technologies have to be used wisely, while our students’ health and safety in the digital world remains our first priority.
Sustainability and the green transition are a second pillar of the event in which we are of course also very interested. Education plays an important role in preparing students to address these issues, to prepare them to act in favour of the environment and to become responsible citizens.
What criteria will you use to gauge the success of Nexus2050?
The success of Nexus2050 will hinge on several key areas. I am particularly interested in seeing discussions on AI-powered learning technologies and their pedagogical potential. Establishing fruitful partnerships between Luxembourgish stakeholders and other participants would be a significant measure of success. Additionally, fostering a spirit of knowledge sharing and inspiration, empowering educators with the latest advancements to implement innovative and student-centred approaches in their classrooms, is a key success factor. Overall, a successful Nexus2050 would demonstrate a strong commitment from all stakeholders to continuously improve Luxembourg's education system, ensuring it is equitable, inclusive and future-oriented.
