An Interview with Abderrahmane Saber, Partner - Deloitte

Deloitte Luxembourg is a partner of Nexus2050. This inaugural edition will focus on generative AI and sustainability, as well as cybersecurity, fintech, skills, and pure tech. More than 5,000 attendees are expected, alongside over 200 experts and speakers, 200 startups from around the globe, and 100 exhibitors. It will span two days, feature 6 stages, and cover more than 12,000 square meters.


What inspired your organization to join Nexus2050 for its first edition?

Our organization is deeply committed to sustainable business practices and the advancement of clean technology. The launch of Nexus2050 presented a great opportunity for us to collaborate with other innovators and contribute to shaping a sustainable future. We believe that being part of Nexus2050's inaugural edition will allow us to exchange ideas, share our own initiatives and learn.

 

Which topics at Nexus2050 are of particular interest to you? And why?

The topics that resonate with us at Nexus2050 are 'Digital Transformation in the Era of Climate Change', 'Green Finance', and 'Sustainable Business Models'. As an entity deeply embedded in the financial services sector, the connection between digital transformation and sustainable practices is vital to us. It is particularly intriguing to explore how digital transformation can be harnessed to mitigate climate change.

In addition to this, 'Green Finance' grabs our attention as it aligns directly with our values. 

Lastly, 'Sustainable Business Models' are of immense interest to us. We continuously strive to incorporate sustainability into our business model. Understanding how other businesses manage to intertwine sustainability with success would provide invaluable insights and potential strategies to emulate.

  

What criteria will you use to gauge the success of Nexus2050?

In our opinion, the success if Nexus2050 can be based on the following criteria:

• Knowledge Gains: New insights and knowledge that we were able to gain, particularly on topics directly informing our work such as digital transformation, green finance, and sustainable business models.

• Collaboration and Networking: Given that Nexus2050 offers a platform for thought leaders and industry innovators to convene, the creation of valuable connections and partnerships will be a key criterion. The potential to cultivate long-term collaborations for sustainable projects is a defining indicator of success.

• Applicability: We're interested in how much of what's discussed during the event can be translated into actionable strategies within our organization. Success in this context implies that we walk away with effective, realistic actions, practices or solutions that we can incorporate into our strategy and operations.

• Influence on Policy and Industry: Lastly, the extent to which Nexus2050 influences broader industry practices or policies related to sustainability will be a defining measure of its overall impact and success.
